About the Role

As a Turret Assembly Mechanic at Rheinmetall Defence Australia, you will play a key role in the mechanical and electrical assembly of advanced Turret systems across multiple high-profile projects such as L400 Ph2. Working within defined TAKT’s alongside other SME’s and Team Lead, you will follow detailed Manufacturing Work Instructions (MWI’s), technical drawings and strict WH&S protocols to deliver high quality builds in a process-driven environment. This role will be very hands-on with assembly, integration and testing of complex mechanical and electrical systems and is a critical position in a collaborative, multi-disciplined team where precision, safety and attention to detail are essential to success.

Key Responsibilities Involve

• Perform inspection and pre-assembly checks of turret/weapons assembly and associated components before integration

• Assemble turret systems for L400 Phase 2 and other projects

• Carry out Quality Test Instructions in line with the Quality Inspection Plan

• Read and interpret technical drawings, complete production documentation and assist the quality department with investigations and reporting

• Support the materials / supply side with movement, delivery and inspection of parts and consumables

What are we looking for?

The experience and skillset best suited to this role includes:

• Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Automotive, Electrical / Electronics, Armament, or a related field;

• Previous experience in mechanical and/or electrical assembly within a manufacturing or Defence environment;

• Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings, schematics, and MWI’s;

• Proven capability to work within TAKT timeframes and meet production targets;

• Familiarity with QTI’s and experience in completing and documenting quality checks;

• Previous Defence or heavy industry experience (Highly regarded but not essential); and

• Eligibility to obtain an Australian Government Security Clearance (Australian Citizenship required).
