Research Assistant (m/f/d)
(salary group 13 TV-L, 65 %)

The DFG-funded Research Training Group RTG-2900 "nanomaterials@biomembranes" at Osnabrück University invites applications for a PhD student position to commence work as soon as possible. The position is fixed for a period of three years.

A controlled permeabilization of cells to facilitate cytosolic delivery of synthetic peptides and other biomolecules would greatly benefit the development of novel therapeutics but also poses a major challenge to medicinal chemistry. The successful candidate will work on an interdisciplinary project to investigate novel supramolecular materials for their capacity to promote plasma membrane passage of cargo and trigger cell damage response pathways. Toward this end, surface architectures of membrane bilayer-destabilizing supramolecular materials will be combined with super-resolution live cell imaging technologies to interrogate cargo transport and membrane repair-associated lipid dynamics at confined sites of cell permeabilization.

Your Duties:

  • Participation in a research project of the DFG-funded research training group
  • Own further scientific qualification with the aim of obtaining a doctoral degree

Requirements:

  • Completed first degree (M.Sc.) in molecular life sciences, biochemistry or biophysics
  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary research
  • Ability to work in a team and willingness to engage in multilateral research cooperation
  • Very good command of written and spoken English

We offer:

  • State-of-the-art laboratory and equipment infrastructure at the Center for Cellular Nanoanalytics (CellNanOs)
  • Collaboration in an exciting and cutting-edge research project
  • Intensive and interdisciplinary supervision by project leaders and methodological experts
  • Integration into a structured, tailor-made PhD and qualification program
  • Collegial collaboration in interdisciplinary and international teams
